tree of life spiritual teachings

ST. MATTHEW

5:29-30 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not thy whole body should be cast into hell.

6:22-23 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both body and soul in hell.

14:12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

26:12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

26:26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27:58-59 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth.

ST. MARK

5:29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

14: 8 She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

14:22 And as they did eat, Jesus took the bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

14:51 And there followed him a certain man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young man laid hold on him:

15:43 Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counsellor, who also waited for the king- dom of God, came, and went in boldly to Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

15:45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

ST. LUKE

11:34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye be single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.

11:36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when bright shining of a candle doth give thee light.

12: 4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that they have no more that they can do.

12:22-23 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

17:37 And they answered and said unto him, Where Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

23:52 This man went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus.

23:55 And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

24: 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

24:23 And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

2:21 But he spake of the temple of the body.

19:38 And after this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

19:40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

20:12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

ACTS

19:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

ROMANS

4:19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb.

6: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified in him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

7: 4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

8:23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

12: 4-5 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office. So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and everyone members one of another.

I CORINTHIANS

5: 3 For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed.

6:13 Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

6:16 What? know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

6:18-20 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your own body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own. For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

7: 4 The wife hath not power over her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

7:34 There is a difference also between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman careth for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.

9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached unto others, I myself should be a castaway.

10:17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

11:27 Wherefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

12:12-20 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot shall say, Because I am not of the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear shall say, Because I am not of the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole body were hearing, where were the smelling? But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased Him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet not one body.

12:22-25 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor: and our comely parts have more abundant comeliness. For our comely parts have no need: but God had tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

13: 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me none.

15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain.

15:44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

II CORINTHIANS

4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

5: 6 Therefore we are always confident, know that whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord.

5: 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that everyone may receive the things done in his body, and to be present with the Lord.

12: 2-3 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth.) such an one caught up to the third heaven. And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth.)

GALATIANS

6:17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.

4: 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling.

4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

4:16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

5:23For the husband is head of the wife, even as Christ is head of the church: and he is the savior of the body.

5:30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

PHILIPPIANS

1:20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death.

3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the workings whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

COLOSSIANS

1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.

1:22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable, and unreproveable in his sight.

2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

2:17 Which are the shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

2:19 And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will, worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

3:15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

13: 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

JAMES

2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye gave them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

3: 2-3 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they obey us; and we turn about their whole body.

3: 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and is set on fire of hell.

I PETER

2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

1: 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
