This morning I'm going to take a text which doesn't exactly speak of what I'm going to speak about. But it is the sum and substance of that which I am going to speak about. And that is the omniscience of man. And I am taking the text, the substance thereof, from the 1st chapter of Ephesians beginning with the 3rd verse because that is where the first of this begins. 3) "Blessed be the Lord and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ." Now if you will notice I'm going along as I read, there's eleven verses to read here. I'm going to point out certain things here which are very pertinent to what we are talking about.
He first says here: "God and our Father, our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in Christ" which supports the ancient teaching which was here long before the Master of the Christos, the Christ. If you are to be blessed in our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed in Christ we certainly would have to have a difference of power, a difference of action.
"And in every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places 4) Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before him." If we were chosen messengers, those of us whom have accepted him and taken on the responsibilities and those whom have professed Jesus and have attained the great Light of the Christos. If this was at the foundation, then basically we are one with him. Thus it is, that if we are blameless in this respect, then we are omniscient, omnipotent, omniscient in nature, omnipotent in reality with him.
5) "He destined us in love to be his sons through Jesus Christ," through the great Master that took on the Christ, "according to the purpose of his will, 6) To the praise of his glory, thus grace which he really bestowed on us in the beloved. 7) In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses according to the riches of his grace which he lavished upon us. 8) For he has made known to us in all wisdom and insight the mystery of his will. 9) According to his purpose which he set forth in Christ in the Christos, the first born Son of the Father as a plan for the fullness of time to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth." Here we have the little story which I have told many times of what is about to take place and is taking place.
11)"In him according to the purpose of him whom accomplished, that is all things, according to the council of his will, we who first hoped in Christ," I didn't say Jesus, 12) "Have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory. 13) In him you also who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of salvation and have believed in him were sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit." Now that doesn't say that the omniscience of man as the omniscience of God doesn't require some working on. And one of our great troubles is that when we have first dipped our fingers into the pot of wisdom and truth and taken out a little of that honey that has given us freedom and gotten rid of some of the fears that we had, we immediately want to become part of the archangels and the gods above. Oh, no, oh no. Yes you are sealed, many, as blameless. You will learn to do the will of the Father.
But there is something we have forgotten. And that is with every prayer that we pray it is through the grace of God and his word that it is answered. Because he has said it. And it has been, down through the centuries, one of the great idiotic errors of man not only in the Christian church or Christian school but in every mystic school and occult school that has existed. That man, as quick as he starts to learn of the infinite power and word and the working of the Spirit through him, immediately starts to say 'Well, I'll do it' and he forgets that it is from the great love of the Creator that he's doing it.
I have seen students sit in counseling and I'd say, 'Now let go and let God do it.' And they look at me, 'Well, I don't understand that.' I never fully explained it to them and I didn't intend to because I wanted to worry them for a while. Maybe they'd remember it longer. Now this trite old saying of "Let go and let God" is not a trite old saying, it is a basic fundamental and the violation of it is the point at which the student and the priest, and even the Teacher sometimes when he gets to a point of beginning to really know, because he takes on things as he goes along. It is at this point that man usually falls on his face.
There is a point in your spiritual development, oh yes, in parenthesis, you will have learned to use the laws of Word as given to us by our Lord Jesus from the Father, surely. Oh, you'll get results, there's no question about it. But there is a point that we come to where we begin to know and we experience the real love. It is where everything starts to cease to attract us so. It is where we begin to know, really, the omniscience of God in man. And when we start to feel this, feel it in our bones, feel it in our life, feel it in our relation with our brother, feel it in our relation when we kneel at the altar, we don't stop to create prayers; we say them. Because we have opened out hearts. It is then that the animal which you live in becomes the servant of the Almighty.
And as long as you think, that really it is you whom perform these miracles you are going to have some rough reactions because one of these days you'll start to run out of grace.
Oh, yes, the Father is most generous and bounteous with this grace. But there is a way of running out of it and then you have problems. When you build up the wall to the point where you don't see anybody in creation except yourself; oh there's other people around, you're conscious of that but they're not too important.
Paul said in the Corinthians and I think it's in the Ephesians also, he said, this isn't his words but this is what they said, because I never remember anything, 'It is through the great love, real love, not this dripping drooling sort of thing that we try to call love out here, but because God had created us, this being, this being, the soul and the Self, because he had created us and put us into creation. He saw what he had and he loved it. He loved it because it was a way of raising the reality of all things around Him. It was a way of His will being expressed in lower creation.'
Haven't you ever gone into prayer and meditation and opened your eyes and the whole room was filled with energy? You could see it. The whole room was filled with Life. And you looked over across the room at the chair and it was fairly bubbling with life, vibrant reality of God, the omnipresent, with us. Haven't you ever felt the relationship between you and the leg of the chair? Haven't you ever felt the relationship between you and the rose? And the beauty and the vibrance and the life of which you have full command? Because the Father wishes to give you the kingdom.
